Install a Fence Gate

Are you handy and enjoy working with your hands? If so, we invite you to install your own gate. With a little help from friends or family and our comprehensive guides at Fenceweb, you can successfully set up your gate. Proper preparation is crucial; by following the correct steps, you'll ensure your gate is secure and durable for years to come. For a detailed step-by-step guide, refer to our gate installation manual. To get you started, here's a clear overview of how to install a gate yourself:

Installing a Metal Gate

  1. Unpacking: Place all parts on a soft surface. Determine the measurements, swing direction, and positioning.
  2. Preparing Hinges: Pre-adjust the hinges. Lightly attach the eye bolt to the gate leaf without fully tightening it.
  3. Flexibility: Adjust the eye bolt to allow the correct spacing between the posts.
  4. Setting the Posts: Position the posts upright and at the correct height, secure with concrete, and let it cure.
  5. Installing the Latch Catcher: Attach the latch catcher using an Allen key and screwdriver, ensuring it aligns with the swing direction.
  6. Hanging the Gate Leaf: Hang the gate leaf and tighten the eye bolt nut securely.
  7. Mounting the Lock: Attach the lock housing, then slide in the cylinder lock along with the handle and cover plate.

By following these steps, you'll have a sturdy and well-installed gate that adds both security and style to your property.
